We're On Our Way

Finally...after months of waiting and weeks of planning...we are on our way!! It has been an emotional roller coaster week for me. My mama heart is torn. I am having a hard time leaving the 4 that I have, but am excited to finally get my hands on Miss Gracie Joy. I think, as soon as I get on that plane...all will be good. I just hope I can get on the plane without bursting into tears 100 times!! I'm thinking I might wait to put make-up on until we take off :)

We leave today at 11:00 am and fly to Detroit. We will have a 7 hour layover there. Ugh...the only good thing is that I can get the pedicure I never fit in this week! We then leave for Beijing at 9:00pm our time, and arrive in Beijing at 11:00pm their time! We will stay overnight in Beijing and then fly to Changsha Sunday morning. This gives us plenty of time to settle in before we get to meet Miss Gracie at 9:30 Monday morning!!! I get butterflies just thinking of it!!

Thank you all for your messages, comments and emails full of support and prayer. I have felt every one. Please keep them coming!

I am praying that God is preparing Gracie's heart to accept the love we have for her. That God will comfort the heart of her foster mother who has loved and cared for her for 2 years. I pray that Richard and I will have wisdom to do the best we can to help her adjust. I am also praying for my children at home and their grandparents, that their days would be quick and easy. And finally, praying for safety as we travel to the other side of the earth and back.

Our next post will be from China! Stay tuned!!

Best wishes on your trip :-) Try to not worry (Ha, if you knew me, you would so be laughing as I am a total worrier by nature!)
Sounds like your mom may be expericing vertigo - my mother also suffers from this and the vertigo attacks are just heartbreaking and scary (my mom's is linked to an inner ear inflamation called Meniere's disease.). I hope your mom finds a fantastic ENT to help her.

I am so excited for you!! The day is finally here. I can still remember stopping by your house on the way home from Disney last October and you showing me Gracie's picture. You had that smile on your face and that twinkle in your eye and even though Richard didn't know it yet...I knew you were bringing that sweet girl home.

Here it is--less than a year later and we would be stopping by your house today if you were not going to be on your way to China!!! LOL! I will think of you as we pass your exit!!!!

I am praying for y'all, your Mom, your in-laws, your flight, Gracie and everything else! Now, don't make me wait up all night on Sunday night on my vacation waiting for news that you have her!!!! I will try to prop my eyes open with toothpicks ala Fred Flintstone but please know I will be sleeping at the computer waiting.

Safe travels.

Love,
Kim

Hi Jennifer,
So excited! It is so hard to leave children behind.... Praying they will be just fine and enjoy themselves with your family.

Have a save trip, relax and enjoy as much as possible. Enjoy your pedicure!! Hope your lay over goes by fast.

Praying for Gracie to be open to you guys and just fall in love immediately! I get tears in my eye's when I think about the foster Mom and what they have to go thru when we adopt our precious children. I guess that is why we could never be a foster parents here. It would just break my heart to see the children go. IT takes a very special person to do what they do!

Hope you can catch up on some sleep and reading on the plane.

Hugs,
Jody
