Relieved

We finally got Wesleigh's MRI done today. We haven't been in a huge hurry because we totally expect a good report. I also have been dreading it and am very good at procrastinating ;)

We had to be at the hospital at 6:00am because they had to sedate her for the procedure. She was a trooper. When it was time to go back in the room without me, the girl said the magic word "balloon" and Wesleigh willingly went with her.

When she woke up, she was just plain mad. They brought me in and she was wailing. She was especially mad that the hand that she sucks her finger on was wrapped up with an IV. That would be my fault for not telling them :(

She calmed down soon enough and has been fine ever since. I'm so thankful that is over! We'll go back to the dr. soon to get the good report!

Here are some pics from yesterday. They are some of my favorites. We were trying out a new do. Not completely successful yet, but the way her hair grows, it won't be much longer!

Trying to show me how old she is. The girl can snap! But has trouble getting those 2 fingers up :)

Awesome!

"awe-duh" (awesome) is Wesleigh's newest word and the cutest by far!! I'm not completely sure where she got it, but I have caught myself saying it a number of times lately ;)
Not only is her pronunciation the cutest thing ever (trying to get it on video), but she uses it at the right time. It is hysterical. Today she brought me this fairy costume that a friend passed down to us. (It was on the floor of her closet, and evidently, I left the door open) When she showed it to me she had her mouth wide open in awe and said, "awe-duh"! Of course, we had to put it on and look in the mirror (and take a couple of pics!)

And, just look at her now!!!

It's amazing what a little time and alot of love can do!!

Thank you, Lord, for this sweet child who has completely turned our world upside down!

She was just what we needed!!!

Beach 2010 Part 2

Here are some more pictures from our beach trip. By this time, Bryce, Braden and Richard are all gone so it's me, Cade and Wesleigh with all the cousins. They had a great time together.

I just can't help it. I think she's the cutest thing ever in her bikini!!

DSC_6336

Especially these shots from behind. We often call her "tiny heiny" around here. She has Richard's butt (or lack thereof!).

DSC_6332

Cade and Hayden. Don't even ask what Cade is doing here. He's trying to flex his neck because he thinks it makes him look "buff". Lord help me!

Cade, Hayden and PawPaw.

Madelyn and Wesleigh. Wesleigh adores Madelyn and wanted to be with her at all times. She was a huge help to me. I didn't want to let her go back home to Colorado :(

Wesleigh and Auden.

This was hysterical. Rylan and Wesleigh played tea party for quite a while on the beach. If you knew Rylan, this is something you would never expect. So cute!

Beach 2010

We just got back from our family beach trip. As I look through these pics, all I can think of are the ones I should have taken! So frustrating! But...these are cute, and just a hodge podge of our beach days. This year was a little different because my little family was only there together for one full day. Braden and Richard left the 2nd day for St. Louis. Braden is playing in a World Series tournament there. Richard then left from there and headed to B'ham for some work meetings. Bryce left the beach Sunday because he has band camp all week. My sweet Daddy brought him home and then came back the next day. (Band camp is a whole other post :) Cade, Wesleigh and I came home today. As much as I love the beach, it's always nice to get home!
So.....on to the pics! Cade was so funny in this pool with Wesleigh and Auden! He took up the whole thing!! Auden loved Cade (and he loves her right back).

All the cousins. They weren't all happy about it, but they're all there!

Me and my honey on our one day of vacation together!! We'll have to do better next year!

Bryce was jumping the waves with Rylan. His legs are just a little longer ;)

The girls wouldn't fit in here with Bryce!

Daddys are always the most fun in the pool!

DSC_6263

This one just cracks me up. My dad was blowing up the little pool and this is what I saw when I looked over at him. I almost had to go make sure he didn't pass out!!

DSC_6119

I have plenty more that I'll try to post tomorrow.

BTW...the beach was awesome! I really thought we were going to have trouble with oil, but we didn't. I was very excited that we were able to be on the beach.

Beachin' It

DSC_6209
We are beachin' it again. Miss W still LOVES the beach and is fearless in the water. We have been pleasantly surprised that the beach is clean and oil free! We are hoping it stays that way for the duration.
I should have lots of fun pics to post soon!

My Very Own Farmer's Market

My dad used to have a garden when we were little. He quit for whatever reason, but now has decided to grow one again. Since he has a few acres now, he has plenty of room to grow whatever he wants. This summer, we have benefited from his hard work! We have eaten tomatoes, eggplant, zuchinni, cucumbers, lettuce, etc. We've even had grapes!! (only about 6 grapes though :) If you notice, there's a bottle of honey. That came from dad too. He is a beekeeper as well!
Thanks, dad, for all the yummy treats!
DSC_5992

Since my dad retired, he has been around to spend time with the kids this summer. He took Bryce to the WWII museum a few days ago. As you can see, Bryce came home with a few souveniers. (As you can also see, Miss W had to be in the picture!)
Thanks, PawPaw!

Biker Girl

DSC_6010

DSC_6011
Miss W has a carriage! Someone that works with Richard let us use this bike trailer for Wesleigh. Isn't it great? She loves riding in it and boy does it give me a workout! We have gone riding on the golf course a few times and love it. Thanks, Heather, for Miss W's carriage!

5 Months Home

DSC_6019

What a whirlwind these past few months have been. I know I say it all the time, but I can't believe we've already been home 5 months. Then I look at pictures of Wesleigh, then and now, and I can't believe it's only been 5 months! The change is absolutely amazing. I think her looks have changed so much because her hair grows so fast. This girl has already had 2 haircuts!! Of course, I'm thrilled about it! She continues to change so fast and her personality keeps getting bigger and bigger.
She is hysterical.

The girl never stays still. Well... there are a few minutes right after she wakes up that she is still. Other than that, she's on the move. Even when she's on my lap, she's in constant movement.

She still likes to collect things in various bags. She'll use her purses, a gift bag, or a paper shopping bag. Right now, she has several of them going. Here are a couple of pictures so you can see the crazy stuff she puts in them!

DSC_6012

DSC_6013

She not only poses for pictures, she runs to get in them when she sees the camera come out. If I'm taking a picture of one of the boys, she runs over, puts her arm around him, and smiles for the camera. Of course, no one seems to mind.

She seems to have appropriate reactions to strangers. At my dad's retirement party, there were lots of people who couldn't wait to meet her. She was very leary of the strangers and clung to me, but was very willing to go to my parents. I was encouraged by this, because it was exactly how most other 2 year olds would have reacted.

Her language has exploded. She and I are going round and round because she keeps pointing her finger at me and saying, "no no". Hmmm.... Hopefully, we can get a handle on that soon ;) Other than that, everything she says is adorable. Right now, "Cade" (Cae), seems to be her favorite name to say. She calls for him all the time and says, "Go Cade" through a megaphone. Bryce and Braden try to get her to switch names, but she won't. She totally knows that it gets them.

She points her finger at me and says, "no no". Hmmm....

She goes under water in the pool when she jumps in and loves it! I'm so excited that she loves the water.

Either she's grown and can reach more on the countertops, or she's figured out that's where all the "good stuff" is. She grabs stuff faster than I can move it back.

She asks for kisses, hugs and high fives often.

She still falls and busts her lip, but not as often. I think her legs still aren't as strong as they should be. Her left leg especially is a little weak. She is so much stronger than she was when we brought her home.

She will grab a hand (anyone's), pull them to her room and say "pay". She wants you to sit at her table and play tea party.

She is still a little peanut. My scale says she weighs 25 lbs. With her hair getting longer, she looks so much older. I think that makes her look even smaller.

Richard was out of town for a few days last week. When he got home, she totally melted. She was so excited to see him and just stared at him with that little grin. SO cute!
This little girl is amazing. I can't even imagine life without her. She definitely keeps us on our toes!!

Braden & Dawson Week

DSC_5999

These two are great school friends and love to spend time together. Unfortunately, Braden is so busy with baseball that he doesn't get to do much else. He had last week off of ball, so we decided to let these two spend the week together. 5 nights between the 2 houses...and they still loved each other when they finally parted!! We love Dawson and I'm so glad Braden got to spend some time with his special friend!

You can see that little Miss wants to be in every picture. She saw me get the camera out and ran to the action! Love it!! How 'bout that hair?!?! I have a whole post devoted to that bedhead coming!! Dawson's looking pretty rough too ;)

Happy 4th of July!

DSC_6008

It is always an amazing thing to bring Wesleigh to church. I can't help but remember the service we attended in China. A service that Wesleigh, had she grown up in China, would never have the opportunity to attend. I am so proud of our country and so appreciative of the freedoms we have. Thank you to those men and women who serve so we can be free!

God Bless America!!

What to Do?

DSC_5985b

I have to say, this might be my favorite outfit right now! It is so adorable on her!!

I took Wesleigh to get her hair trimmed a little yesterday. All she did was straighten the back a little, but it made a huge difference! It looks like a cute little bob now. It is just amazing to think that 5 short months ago, her head was buzzed!!
DSC_5987

We've had a pretty boring week. Richard was out of town and the weather has been just gross. I'm trying to come up with things everyone would like to do, but I'm at a loss. With a 13 yr. old and a 2 yr. old there aren't many things everyone would be interrested in. Today, my dad took Bryce to the World War II museum in New Orleans. Bryce is SO excited! Of course, I have plenty I could have been doing around here...toilets, laundry, floors, etc. What's the fun in that!! Any ideas?
