OH MY!!!

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from Greystone. This is the golf course where we are currently building a house. They were looking for a couple of kids who attend the public schools here and are going to live in Greystone to use for the upcoming Chalk Talk magazine. I know this publication well. The two teachers who put it together are good friends of mine, so of course, I excitedly agreed. They only wanted elementary aged children, so Bryce didn't do this with us. He was out of town anyway. So, I called my "honorary Doughty boy" John Ashley to join us for the pictures. Boy am I glad I did, too. (You'll understand in a minute) The photographer comes with this little bity camera and sets the kids up where they are staring straight into the sun. Not only that, they are looking over a lake, so the sun is not only glaring straight into their eyes, it's reflecting off the water as well. You know where I'm heading with this, don't you? It was all I could do to not say, "You know what, my big, honking camera is in the car. Why don't I grab it, just in case." Hindsight: so should have said it!!!! Look what they put on the magazine, not in it, ON IT!:

Want a closer look?

That has to be the worst picture of my precious children I have EVER seen!!! And they put it on the cover of the stupid magazine!! Granted, Braden's hair should have been covered with a hat, but couldn't someone have told me it looked like a mop up there? And Cade has a great smile, but his eyes are completely closed. John Ashley is a little better, but he just looks mad. Inside the magazine, there are a few more shots that are MUCH better. Why, oh why, would he put this on the cover? Can you tell I'm just a little disappointed? I am no photographer, but I can assure you, I could have done better than this! Oh well, nothing I can do about it now. Maybe just hope that no one will notice they're my kids! Darn it but, of course, they spelled their names right! Maybe it's God's way to keep me humble. Great. Thanks Lord.

Wow, I can't believe they used it, it looks like it was taken through fog. Surely he saw how uncomfortable the boys were, I think they need a new photographer.

But they're still cute!

The "fog" comes from the fact that it is a newspaper, and I scanned it on the printer, but you're right, they do need another photographer!

Makes you wonder right?! Your boys are cute though. No matter how bad the hair..

that is really wierd. You would think they would have more pride than that.

Whoa! That isn't the greatest pic. I would be upset too. I'm sure they had lots of others to choose from. Either way your boys are going to have plenty of chances to win folks over with those dazzling smiles. They are all handsome boys...

I agree the picture is not flattering. However, just look to the facts and future. Fact - you have 3 beautiful boys, and no picture can change that.
Future - you have ammunition for datenights when the girls want to see younger pictures of the boys. Sometimes you need more than naked butt pictures.

It made me smile. Those are the American boys of summer. Blinded by the sun, hair a little tossled, but out there on the golf course!

Oh, I think it's absolutely adorable! What a cute and FUN picture and an honor to have them on the cover!! That will be fun for them to look back on one day and laugh...and be proud.

I'm thinking God is saying, "Next time speak your mind".
But that's just my humble opinion.
I would be choked as well, though it is impressive to be on a magazine cover (huge bragging rights!)
