Two Years Ago

Today marks the two year anniversary of my grandmother's death. This date actually marks the beginning of a season of chaos in our house. Katrina hit 2 years ago tomorrow, and tragedy struck us again the beginning of September (more on that later). My grandmother had been ill for quite a while, and had been sent home to die. However, her home is in LaPlace, LA. That is a little town between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. With all the evacuations and uncertainty with the hurricane, my dad and his siblings moved her to my parents' home. That is where she finally died.

This picture is her with my boys. This swing is the first thing I think about when I think of her. She loved to swing on it. I can remember swinging with her when I was a little girl. She wasn't really the "grandmotherly" type very often, but I knew she loved us. I could see that "grandmother" come out in her when she was with my boys, and I so enjoyed seeing her with them. They loved her very much.

A few months after her death, we were saying our goodnight prayers with the boys. Braden started praying and said, "Please help MiMi have fun in heaven". I just love that. I would love to know what goes on in those little minds. I hope she's having fun in heaven, too.

That is so sweet to remember her by adding her to your blog. I often wonder what she is doing.

Kids say the cutest things. I'm sorry she is gone. She sounds like a wonderful lady.

Oh what sweet memories of someone so special.
I love his prayer, I will pray the same thing tonight when I go to bed. :)

That is really precious what your son said about your grandmother.
I have been thinking about the anniversary of Katrina as well. We are all blessed to be here and that we are able to live and tell about it. God is good!
I would love to add you to my blogroll. Is that okay?

Sweet post! I am in Prairieville, LA about 5 minutes outside of BR, I have lots of little boys too and would LOVE to adopt a little girl one day! :-) We have a lot in common :-)

Your boys are precious!
