Well, It Happened

My oldest, Bryce, on his third whole day of Jr. High, looked at me this morning before we left for school and said, "Are you going to get dressed to bring me to school?". Now, granted, I just had on a T-shirt and some shorts, and no make-up, but I did have flip flops and a bra on!! It wasn't like I just rolled out of bed and jumped in the car! My reply was, "I am". He said "Oh, it just looks like you might have slept in it!!" The reason this is so funny to me is that this is the first indication that he cares about anything! He doesn't care if he has deodorant on, or if he's brushed his teeth, or if he's showered this week! He doesn't care what he wears each day, and I never even knew he ever noticed that I even wore clothes! So, I guess today was the beginning. Only the first of many times he will have to endure his embarrassing mother. You know the funniest part? As he was getting out of the car, I noticed that he hadn't even brushed his hair!! Oh, well, baby steps!

You should have run back to your room and plopped a big fat curler in your hair and then said "now I'm ready"! That would have put him over the edge.. lol....

Thats funny! I have 2 years until Middle School. I'm not looking forward to it. And as early as they start, they'd be lucky if I even brushed my hair.

LOL about Rony's comment, because my mom used to drive me everywhere (including the grocery store) in curlers all the time.

Funny that we're the ones embarrassing them now.

Too funny. I am so a victim of this too! Last winter I ran out of wiper fluid on a really snowy day. My windshield was covered with salt and muck. I asked my high school if he wouldn't mind throwing some snow on the windshield when I let him out for school so I clean the glass off. He got out, grabbed a chunk of ice and threw it at the truck over his shoulder. He never even looked back.

This post made me laugh. Sounds like he is more interested in Mom looking cool than himself. HAHA. You are right though....baby steps. Too funny.

That is too funny.........BOYS!

But I tend to lean on the Rony side of thinking. I would have honked the horn when he got out and rolled the window down hollerin' " Ok baby have a good day Momma Loooovesssss you"

But i'm just kinda crazy like that.....LOL

My oldest one started High school this year(9th)and I drop him off.
He better not mess with me...LOL

Maybe he was concerned your forgot your underwear.

I love the comments. Great ideas.

My oldest actually ASKED me to pick him up. All his friends are in afterschool activities and he does not want to ride the bus home alone.

Girls have been discovered. Along with that the essence of 'coolness' infront of anyone of status.

I was told to put on one of those big foam fingers you wear at sports events and drive up with that on your hand cheering him on. That'll work.

As I said in my post about my oldest, the great thing about this age is that they actually want to take showers!! Now I can't get him out of there~

Oh that is funny! I have two middle schoolers and I can SOOO relate to this! My kids used to love having me around, being room mom and participating in all the school activities. Nowadays, I am not even allowed to come to the bus stop. And God forbid should I have to step foot inside the school! And that's even if I am fully dressed, coifed hair and makeup! Am I really THAT embarrassing?!!! :-)
