YUCK!!!

Well, it happened....we had our first case of lice in this house!! To say I am grossed out is a great understatement. I was all ready to take a bath and wind down last night when Braden came in saying his head was itching. Well, you know the rest of the story...I ran to the drug store and spent the next two hours washing and nit-picking his hair. GROSS!!! Is your head itching just reading this? Mine is as I type. I'm just thankful he's a boy and doesn't have a ton of hair. I don't know what you do with a girl with long hair! I'm just praying we got it taken care of. I told him if we had already taken our Christmas card photo, I might just give him a crew cut. Lucky for him, I'm a procrastinator!!

Otherwise, we have still been super busy. Richard and I went to New Orleans yesterday morning for our fingerprint appointment. No one has asked for money yet so I'm praying we get through!

My SIL came over yesterday and we started decorating the house. It is looking really cute! We're supposed to get our tree today, so that should be alot of fun! I only have a few more Christmas presents to buy and I'll be completely done. The "big brown truck" (as my boys call it) should know my house well for the next couple of weeks. Isn't it so exciting to see that truck pull up at your house?!?! Ahhh...it's the simple things!!

We will be going to my parents house tomorrow for Thanksgiving. It will be quiet, but still alot of fun. We have so much to be thankful for. Among many things, I am thankful for all of you fellow bloggers who I have met on this crazy adoption journey. You have been a special blessing of encouragement every step of the way. Thank you!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

I am itching just reading this!! It is bound to happen with three kids in school...so far we have been lucky, but we usually get a letter at least once a year saying there has been an outbreak somewhere in the school. Hopefully you are now free of lice!!

Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh no! Lice.. Man, I hope we somehow get to skip over that.. Not likely, but one can hope. :)

Doesn't it feel great to have almost all the shopping done? I know it does for me. That's one big check on my list!

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Oh, boy! We have somehow escaped that over the years. You are so right...if it were my son, I would just shave the hair right off. Girls would be a very different story, though!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Lice scares the living heck out of me-- literally!! I cant imagine little crawling bugs in your hair-- thank God you have boys and not the long girl hair-- yuck. I remember years back when I taught I had a couple outbreaks in my class and I freaked~!!! Anyway, glad they are gone.

Have a great Thanksgiving!!

EWWWWWW!!!! A few weeks ago there was a case of lice at Tye's preschool and I was itchy just thinking about it! So do you have to wash loads of stuff, too?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh Honey! I guess I am your only reader who has been through this event......not once, but twice!

If you have any questions, email me. I've been there, done that. My now 15 year old got it when she was in kindergarten. We treated her, then lo and behold, they re-emerged. I guess I didn't get all the nits. The principal at her school said she heard that hair dye kills it all. So......desperate as I was......I headed to Wal Mart and bought hair dye for my 5 year old daughter.

It took care of the lice, for sure. But I didn't do a very good job of matching the dye. She had dark roots!

Despite how everyone might think this is funny, I know that the medical officer for our county and some of the schools are now suggesting something that I first saw on the PBS kids show, Arthur. Sleeping with mayo and a shower cap on your head! I've heard from many sources that today's lice are immune to the OTC products (and they are toxic), and that the mayo trick actually kills them better.

That said, I hope that you don't need this advice again. Here's to a happy holiday with your family!

Here is a good hint! Have him sleep with oil in his hair for eight days and a plastic hair cap. I know it sounds horrid, but it will kill any lice or eggs the pesticide misses. They drown in the oil. My oldest daughter has massively thick hair and this is what finally worked when she caught it.

My youngest son caught it at church camp (years after my daughter) and we did this immediately and it was gone right away. It smothers anything you missed. Out of six kids I knew we would see it sometime!

I slept with oil in my hair for good measure when the kids caught it because I had the most physical contact with the child who had it. It is awful, but it will work. No one else in the house got it besides the kid who first caught it!

So sorry for you all! Hang in there.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Ugh! I am so sorry! Hopefully you got it taken care of.I just found your blog, and I am so excited to follow your story. I am mom to 2 boys and we are adopting a little girl from Russia. We are currently waiting for a referral. We started our adoption about 8 months ago, and we are not sure how long it will take. Looking forward to reading your blog.
