I Know, I Know...

What could I be thinking, missing a whole weekend of posting?! OK, I'll admit it, watching some of the shows I've had on the DVR, during naptime, took precedence over a post ;) We were actually pretty busy this weekend with lots of "firsts". This weekend, we went to our first baseball tournament! If you have been following my blog for any amount of time, you know how much I LOVE watching my boys play baseball. I would have to say, it's probably my favorite thing to do in the world. I am also very serious about it and really watch every second of it. I am trying to prepare myself for the fact that I'm not going to be able to do that this year. This weekend, Braden filled in for an older team in a tournament so it was a good trial run. Wesleigh actually did really well. We set up in the grass on the outfield side of the dugout and she just tooled around playing with her toys and eating. The difference between this weekend and what reality will be is that Richard was not coaching so he was there with me and able to share the responsibility. I told Richard that I have a feeling that Bryce will be making lots of extra money walking Wesleigh around ballparks this season ;)

We also went to our first birthday party. My niece and nephew had their birthdays at Gymb0ree. Wesleigh seemed to love it, and was right at home with all the kids. I told Richard I thought she felt more at home there than she had since we got her ;) We're having some attachment issues, though. She will go up to anyone and want them to walk with her or help her with something. She doesn't want them to pick her up, but it's still a little too friendly. We're going to have to work on that. Here are a few pics from the party.

She loved this stinkin' clown. It was bigger than she is but she carried it around for the longest time.

I started thinking that, based on my posts, you might think Miss W is near perfect. Well...she is, but I wanted to make sure you knew that we definitely have our moments. She knows how to turn on the water works. So much so, that it just makes me laugh. In case you're wondering...it's scrambled egg in her mouth. I don't even know what made her upset, but boy was she!
PS. My sil made the dress that she is wearing. Did you notice that it matches the blanket I posted earlier? So cute!!

Oh my ... that last picture is priceless :) If Wesleigh is anything like my girls, she will be tooling around the ballpark charming all and getting lots of attention ...sometimes more than the game lol! Love her dresses and thinking your SIL needs to GO into business!!

Love the dress! Very, very cute. She looks so tall in the first picture. I used to take Leah to Gymboree once a week when we first came home and she too loved it. I attribute those classes to how quickly Leah caught up with her gross motor development.

Cade told me that he "played up" this weekend with Braden. Sounds great! He even gave me descriptive details of his hits...so cute. You'll have to see today's diary entry for more accurate details. I am hereby applying for the job of baseball helper. If I'm not available, Sophie certainly is. Love to you all, Lauren McGowan

Thank you for the lil WJ fix. I just got home from Harry's b-ball game and it was SO COLD! But I loved every minute of it too:)

Wesleigh looks like she is loving Gymbo (that is the clown's name)

LOVE. THE.DRESS!!! I agree w/MississippiZen!!! I can readily identify w/being excited about sports when my boys were your boys age! However, ours were basketball fanatics!! We coined ourselves as GYM RATS!!! My husband was the coach (and still coaches to this day)! We spent EVERY WEEKEND either in the gym, or on the road traveling to different tournaments! Our youngest daughter who abt the same age as Wesleigh, literally "grew up in the gym" and actually became a very good basketball player in HS!!!

I "shaking my head" in agreement with the "friendliness"! I have to constantly tell my 2 1/2 year old she CANNOT go up and hug everyone she sees!!! I know it's hard for a 2 1/2yr old to diffrentiate WHO TO HUG and WHO NOT TO HUG! It's a scary world out there and we have to do what we can to protect them at every angle!

Thanks for taking time from your very busy schedule to give us a "Wesleigh fix"! We are soooo spoiled!! :)

Well, I am one of those folks that thinks clowns are a bit on the scary side - but I am glad that WJ loved Gymbo :) She certainly looked adorable in her dress! Your SIL needs to open an etsy shop!

All right - an old "Parent's Magazine" tip for little ones at outdoor sporting events - take a smaller rubbermaid container & put sand in it (obviously can't be too full or it'd be too heavy) and put some sand toys in it - so the lid fits with the toys AND the sand.) Voila - instant entertainment! Bryce can carry the "sand box" to & from the ball park (since he's such a great helper!)

Oh, and as for the "indiscriminate friendliness" - which we had with Mya (& still do sometimes) - I think it helps to just remind her (gently) and tell her "no" when she tries to go to other people - yes, they will look at you like you've lost your mind - but you can't care about that! It is best to nip it in the bud, so to speak, now, while she is still young! I think it is very normal - but not what us Mommas want to see!
