Dance, Dance, Dance!

This was the weekend...the girl weekend. The weekend that I don't spend at the ballpark with my hair in a ponytail :) Well...Saturday, at least! Revue 2013!!





The girls were so excited to finally dance in "the big show".

 They were true to their personalities. Gracie was completely in her element and loved every minute of the stage. I truly believe she thinks the whole event is about her! Wesleigh was busy trying to make sure she remembered every step and executed it exactly right! I love how different they are. The crowd, however, seems to appreciate Gracie's style of dance a little more. She is definitely a crowd favorite and as we walked through the crowd afterward, we got lots of smiles and compliments. You can see their different styles in these pics :)

























It was my brother's turn to dance in the "daddy dance". Their theme was disco. OH MY...was it GREAT!!

Keep in mind, my brother is a city councilman in our city. I told him I think I have his next campaign photo here!!

 After the show, the girls were thrilled to get flowers. Grandparents:

All my boys were happy to attend and support their sisters. They love to see what they do. They did, however, get a little antsy as we got into the 4th hour!! Especially since Braden had played 2 baseball games starting at 8:00 that morning! Next year, they will split the show into two :)




I just love these boys. My girls don't know how good they have it. Their brothers will do anything for them!!

I almost forgot. This might be my favorite pic! I happened to be able to see this backstage wing from my seat. Don't you know...I spent the whole dance before the girls' watching to see if I could get a shot of one of mine. LOVE how she's watching those big girls!!

It's Almost Time!

There's been lots of hard work happening these days in the dance studio!  Just 2 more weeks until it's revue time!!  Not only do I get to watch my girls perform, but my niece will be in the same revue.  Since she's younger, my brother will be joining her in the daddy dance.  I can't wait!  They have a disco themed dance :) Richard is very jealous!!  ;)

Revue 2012

What a night!  It feels like we've been preparing for this revue forever!  Being a rookie dance mom, I was pretty much a nervous wreck.  I was so scared I was going to forget something important.  Thankfully, I had the most amazing babysitter to keep the girls in the dressing room.  She danced for years and years, so she knew what was going on much more than I did...and I was able to sit in the audience and enjoy the show...twice!  This is a serious studio the girls go to.  I need to go back and count how many practices Richard and my dad attended, there was a technical rehearsal Friday morning, a dress rehearsal Friday night and the Revue on Saturday night.  I'm exhausted!!

I did video the dances but the studio made everyone sign papers saying we wouldn't upload video anywhere :(  It has something to do with copyright stuff.  I hate that because I know you would love it!  Gracie pretty much stole the show (which was expected).  There were roars of laughter with each new move she did.  Half of the daddy dance, she was doing Richard's moves instead of her own.  Super cute and she has no idea everyone is looking at her.  She's just out there having fun.  Wesleigh was having her own kind of fun.  Smiling as big as she could and trying so hard to do each move the right way :)  She would look over at Gracie every once in a while and get totally screwed up because Gracie was rarely doing what she was supposed to be doing :)  Gracie knows the moves, she's just always about 3 steps ahead of the music...or anyone else for that matter.

Their first dance was tap. They danced to the song "On How To Be Lovely". I think these were my favorite costumes of the night :)
 


Then the daddy dance...The dads were Indiana Jones and the girls were Egyptian princesses. These costumes were alot of fun because they got to dress up like Jasmine. I think you might be seeing these costumes reappear in October :)

 The girls had a solo dance in the middle to the song "Walk Like an Egyptian". SO funny!!

Do you see the other little girls?  Do you see Gracie?  Which one of these is not like the others?  lol...Gracie thought the dad's part was much more exciting than hers!

Eventually, the Egyptian princesses are carried off by their princes :)


There was a video montage at the end. The girls were brought in to do an interview and they made the video! There were clips of them dancing, blowing kisses to the crowd. SO cute!!! I know I'm biased but I'm pretty sure they were crowd favorites :) They were beyond excited to get lots of flowers after the show.






My amazing sitters! Kristen is the blonde. Amanda is Richard's sister. She was able to stay in the back to help Sat. night too!



For this baseball mom, I had alot more fun with dance this year than I expected.  It truly is a whole new world for me...and I love it!!!
