Catch Up
It's been so long since I posted, I never really expected to post again. I had to figure out how to do it all over again. We have had so much going on that there is no way to catch up. I'm just going to start from now. I am writing this for me. I used to write for others, but I have realized how much I appreciate having my thoughts written on this blog. Things I would never have remembered, are saved forever. I miss that.
I didn't go back to see the last thing I posted but I know I was talking about the flood. Yep...we've spent months rebuilding. No...everything is not finished. I'm over it! We've had graduations, proms, art shows, more baseball games than I could ever count. We've traveled, started new schools, made new friends, and tried to enjoy every minute. Here's an update on the kiddos:
Bryce is now in the USCG. After 2 years at LSU, he decided that there really wasn't anything there he wanted to do. He has always wanted to be in the military so he made the leap. We are so proud of him, but miss him terribly! He is stationed in Charleston on a cutter and makes regular trips to the Pacific Ocean intercepting drug boats. He's also engaged to his love, Caitlin. She is absolutely perfect for him. She is still in her undergrad at LSU and will finish that before there's a wedding.
Braden graduated from high school last May and started LSU in the fall. He is on the LSU baseball team and we have loved every second of it. Richard was a player when he was in school, so it's a little surreal being back as a parent. Braden is loving life as part of this brotherhood and we are loving it too. He has already finished his first year of college and will be spending the summer playing ball in Ohio!
Cade is finishing his junior year of high school. He has an extremely busy summer with baseball. He will be traveling a lot, playing for the best team in the nation. He is also trying to make the 18U USA baseball team, which I am personally counting on!! That would mean a trip to Panama City, Panama in November!! This year has been a huge growing year for Cade. He has had to learn some life lessons that haven't always been fun, but are a part of maturing. Cade had shoulder surgery in the fall, and rehab was harder than he expected. He is 100% now but he had to really work to get there. He has really never struggled in baseball at all, so he had to learn to work through that. It was a very valuable lesson and one I'm happy he learned now. This senior summer and fall will determine a lot for Cade. We are praying God's perfect plan will come to fruition in his life.
Wesleigh just turned 10 in February. She has grown up, and it's freaking me out a little! She is about 4 inches taller than Gracie now and thinks she's about 16. I held both girls back this year, so they are repeating 3rd grade in a new school. This year has been great for both of them. Wesleigh is in advanced math and super proud of that. She is my one child who really cares about her grades!
Gracie turned 10 in April. She is growing up also, but not as fast as Wesleigh. She still enjoys her barbies. She is still as happy as ever and makes us laugh all the time. She loves animals and pretends to be a cat most of the time...makes me crazy! She is doing really well in school.
One funny thing, when Wesleigh came home, the boys liked to use her as a chick magnet. It was a joke we had because they would fight over who got to carry her in somewhere. Boy have times changed...Wesleigh has figured out that having a brother on the LSU baseball team is a huge plus with the boys. She now uses that to her advantage and says her brothers make her popular!
Ok...There's a general idea of what life is like these days. We will see if I can keep it up!
