What Does It Want?!?

This bird has been pecking my big kitchen window for three days straight. At first, it was actually cute, but we have moved past that stage! I am about to lose my mind. I thought she was trying to get to the ceramic rooster I had on the bar, so we moved it, but that wasn't the problem. I googled "cardinal pecking window", and was amazed at how many sites came up. Evidently, these brilliant birds see their reflection and fight it for territory. Brilliant. This morning was the last straw. When a bird wakes me up at daylight to fight itself in my window, I am no longer amused. The sites said the only thing you can do to make them stop is to cover the window for a week or so. Yea, right.
I now know where the phrase "bird brain" comes from.

Too funny! But I can imagine how aggravating. We have to keep our garage door closed all spring otherwise birds build their nest in the windowsill.

I agree with the previous commenter... I LOVE the view!! I would not mind waking up to that every morning! :) I have never heard of a bird doing that for such a long time...how aggravating - for sure...

What are cardinals afraid of?

Find one of those and put it in your window. We used to have a big inflatable snake that we used to scare off birds from making nests over our porch. That worked great for a couple of years, then one day there was a nest in the coil of the snake!!!!

haha

Oh that is too funny!!! Definitely a bird brain! Every once in a while we get hummingbirds around our house. I LOVE when we see them but they are not too bright either. One got trapped in our garage - with the door up! Stupid bird was flying near the ceiling and didn't have enough since to come down six inched to fly out the big garage door. He kept banging his head on the ceiling and running into the ledge right above the opening. I spent TWO hours trying to coax him down enough to fly out. When I googled it, turns out this happens a lot. They are attracted to anything red and most garage doors have that red emergency thingy hanging down.

wow that is so odd isn't it? I can understand how eventually it would not be amusing anymore!

Hmm...how strange if it is fighting itself. Tyler used to love to look at himself and pose in front of any mirror he could find. He'd even kiss himself. Maybe the bird is kissing itself : )

What a spectacular view you have! That is too funny about the bird. We recently went to my sister's lake house in Jackson and a woodpecker would wake us up VERY early every morning. It got on my last nerve. LOL.
Have a great week!
