We have had so much going on that I need to post...Mardi Gras parades, Wesleigh's birthday, and Chinese New Year! I haven't even started going through all the pics :(
I did think though, since my last post left you with such a rosy, perfect view of the sisters in this house...I might give you another view :)

Sisterhood
I never had a sister. I always wanted one, but I just had 2 stinky brothers :) I have only been able to observe the "sisterhood" from the outside in and wonder what it would be like. Of course, I have some friends who I would call my sisters...but I'm sure it's not really the same.
It has been amazing to watch my girls become sisters. Because I'm with them both everyday, I don't think I have really noticed how strong their bond has become. When I took Gracie for 2 weeks to Cincinnati three months after she had come home, they loved to see each other on skype but there was no talk about missing each other. This week was different!
Richard and I brought Wesleigh to see a new pediatric neurosurgeon in Birmingham. We were only gone one night, but both my girls missed the other one greatly. We decided to spoil Wesleigh the entire time and fill her up with all the love and attention we could, since she has to share it with 4 others at home! She ate it up!
We took her to Build a Bear(which she never knew existed!). She was in hog heaven!
Of course, she had to make one for her sister!
She was in heaven "living" in the hotel and sleeping between the two of us.
And we thoroughly enjoyed being able to spend some time with just her. We were able to focus on everything she said fully. She truly is the sweetest, cutest thing ever! You can imagine the people who fawned over her everywhere we went :)
But...even with all this excitement, there were still moments when her eyes would well up with those big crocodile tears and she said "I miss my sister". She fully enjoyed herself, but I don't think she felt complete without her sister.
On the homefront, Gracie had no trouble going to school by herself and had a brother lay down with her to help her go to sleep at night, but she missed her sister too. She would utter the same words "I miss my sister".
Wesleigh was so excited as we were driving into the neighborhood. I couldn't wait to see what their reaction would be!

On the medical side, we found a doctor that we loved and fully trust with the decisions that will need to be made for Wesleigh in the future. In case you're not aware, Wesleigh has spina bifida. Because of this condition, her spinal cord is tethered. She has a 50/50 chance that she will need a delicate surgery to de-tether her cord in the future. It is a big decision and you definitely want a doctor that you trust to help you make it. You might remember that our local doctor was a complete a$$ to us the last time we were there. There was NO way I would darken that door again!
The good news is that he was completely smitten and impressed with our girl. He said she was well above average on her function and he thought she was doing amazing.
Again, I marvel at the fact that God chose me to be her mom. I can't get over the detail with which God presented her file to me in a way that I couldn't close the door at the words "spina bifida". What a blessing this journey has been! What a precious gem Wesleigh Jane is!

Yikes...has it been that long???
Sorry about disappearing like I have! I could give you all sorts of good reasons (and they'd all be true), but the real story is that I've become addicted to Downton Abbey!!! I had been hearing everyone talk about it, but really didn't think much of it until a good friend of mine told me I had to watch. I will admit that I have been stuck to the ipad any minute I can watching the past seasons! I'm going to be so sad when I'm catch up!!!
I have, of course, been busy with baseball, basketball, laundry, blah...blah....blah.... Cade is almost finished with basketball, and I'm so mad I didn't bring my camera to the game last week. The 7th grade game was amazing and we won it in the last second of overtime! The game was in this very old gym with windows and dark wood. They would have been the only decent basketball pics I could have taken all year. UGH!!

These pics look almost exactly like my Christmas parade pics :) In fact, the weather was perfect, just like it was at the last one :) You would never guess it's February!

Videos
While I was attending a tea party today, I asked the girls if I could video them reading me a book. It ended up being one of the cutest videos I have :) Wesleigh's is a little long, but here it is, in case you want to watch:

3 Years Ago...
Three years ago today, in a small room in Nanjing, China, we met this scared little girl...
Just look at her today!!
Boy has Miss Wesleigh turned this family upside down...for the better! We never knew what we were missing before she came into our lives. I cannot imagine life without her. Thank you, Lord for calling us to adopt. Thank you for choosing this precious child just for us!

Winter??
Well...true to S.Louisiana form, our weather has taken a 180 degree turn...and I am NOT complaining! We went from 2 of the most miserable rainy, cold weeks to feeling like spring. It is amazing. As I type right now, I am sitting outside, soaking up some much needed vitamin D while watching the girls ride their trikes. We had the same day yesterday so I followed them around with my camera for a while. Here are some of my captures:
Thanks for your excitement about my upcoming trip to China! I just can't get over that it is actually going to happen! April is turning out to be quite a month as the girls were just asked to be flower girls in my cousin's wedding! To say they are a little excited, would be an understatement! I brought out our wedding photos to show them and they were beside themselves. Wesleigh stared at one of my bridal portraits and said, "Mom, you look just like Cinderella! Do you have on glass slippers?" I can't even tell you how happy that made me. I think it's probably every girls' dream (either conscious or unconscious) is to look like Cinderella. She kept looking at everyone and saying. "He looks a little...different". Yep...she's right...we were all almost 20 years younger!!! It's amazing how time flies!!
I do have to admit, my first response to being asked was sheer panic! Surely, they hadn't read the last post about someone TP'ing the bathroom at preschool!!! Hoping the performance at the wedding will be a little less post-worthy. :)

2013
I know it's been 2013 for 19 days already, but I just have to tell ya...I am excited for this year! We have some very exciting things happening this year. Both girls will start kindergarten, the same day Bryce starts his Senior year and Braden starts high school! I would be lying if I did not say I was looking forward to the girls starting school. :) Not so excited for Bryce to begin his senior year :(
Obviously, that is still a ways off, but there is one big event coming up that I am beside myself excited about! I'm going to China!!! NOT to adopt!!! I am going to be able to make a trip with Pearl River Outreach to love on the children we support. I am also going to be able to visit with the foster moms...including Gracie's!!!! How cool is that?!?! When I started working with PRO, I never imagined it would bring me a new daughter, new friends and amazing opportunities like this one! We're thinking it will be sometime in April. I cannot wait to get dates because then it will be official! I cannot wait to experience China without the stress/excitement of adopting. Just me, my camera, and a couple of my BFF's....and, of course, some of the cutest children in all of China!!! HEAVEN!!
We just had 16 days straight of rain here. To say that we were about to lose our minds is an understatement! In fact, Gracie even TP'd the bathroom at preschool with 2 entire rolls of toilet paper!! SERIOUSLY!!! I am going to blame it on being stuck inside for 16 days because surely, I would not have a child that would actually do that!! RIGHT??? Lord, help me!!
Because of the weather, my camera has hardly come out of the bag. I did snap a couple though:
Wearing our Team Ivy "Joy" shirts to support her as she had another heart surgery. (She is doing great, by the way!!)
Our oldest girl. Britney is 13 years old and is definitely showing her age. She can't hear and can hardly see, but she's sweet as ever.

That's all I got. Thankfully, the sun has been out for a couple of days and things are starting to dry out a little. Maybe I'll get some gems to share with you soon :)
