End of Kindergarten

Figured I should get this post up before they start 1st grade in two days!!!!

Both girls had great teachers this year, and enjoyed every bit of their year.  They ended the year by putting on a program for the parents.

















I have to say...I was a little concerned about what teacher Gracie would have.  Gracie takes a little extra patience sometimes.  Mrs. Leger was amazing for her!  She was a new teacher to our school and she fell in love with Gracie.  She was so patient and kind to her.  I am so grateful to her for making kindergarten great for Gracie!


Mrs. McClanahan is a friend of mine.  Wesleigh adores her and loved every second in kindergarten in her class.  What a blessing to know that your children are in classes where they are truly loved!




I think Gracie must be in half the kindergartener's pictures.  Any time she saw kiddos posing for a pic, she would run up to them and pose :)




These 4 are quite a group.  I am great friends with these two mothers.  In fact, the blonde is John Ashley's brother (in the last post).  I hope they stay together for a long time!!



Looking at these pics makes me miss those baby teeth!!!!!!  :(

Cute as Ever!

As promised, here's my little toothless wonder.  I still think she's too young to have "big teeth" coming in, but there's obviously nothing I can do about it except take some pics of her cuteness!!

As cute as she is, I'm sure hoping we have some time before those top teeth come out!  This mama is NOT ready for that!  I'm thinking Gracie won't be too far behind Miss W with the teeth, seeing as all she does is wiggle them so the tooth fairy will come to her!!  

Thought I'd share a little about Wesleigh and her progress in kindergarten:

She is doing great!  She is smart as a whip and has not struggled with any of the content so far.  She is beginning to figure out the reading, which makes her very happy.  She loves to walk around with a pen and notebook, making notes and drawing pictures.  She likes to have me write specific words in the notebook so she can copy them down.

The funniest thing she's said lately is about a little boy in her class named Tanner (or as W says it "tannu".  She doesn't have that "r" sound yet :)  She tells me one day, "Me and Tannu are fallin in lub.  We just lub each other.  He's my boyfwiend.  We almost kissed at school".  So I explain to her that she is too young to have a boyfriend and there is absolutely no kissing.  So she replies, "Well, what about in first grade, or second...."  Oh Gracious!!

I told Richard to ask her about Tanner and this was her comment to him, "I just can't help it.  He's just so cute!"  She and Gracie both seem to be quite the boy-crazy pair!  I'm not sure if it's because they're so comfortable around boys because of their brothers or if that's just what girls do??  Either way...I think it's going to be a LONG 12 years!!!!!!!

All About Me

The girls had their first "project" for kindergarten last week.  They were so excited to work on their posters.  I printed a bunch of pics and let them choose the ones they wanted to use.  I also wrote exactly what they said about each one.  So cute!

We are having a great time in kindergarten so far!  The school just added another kindergarten teacher so starting Monday, their classes will be smaller!  YAY!!

Wesleigh is having her tonsils removed Monday!  They don't make her sick, but they are so large that they make her gag constantly.  I'm not looking forward to the surgery, but I am looking forward to having a week at home snuggling with her :)  She knows that the reason she gags is her tonsils and that we are having them removed.  The other day (after she gagged), she made the comment, "I am through with these tonsils!!"  So funny!

I had to bring Wesleigh to a pre-op appt. Friday morning, so I dropped only Gracie off at school.  Before we left home, Wesleigh went to Gracie, put her hands on her shoulders and said, "It is going to be ok.  Mommy is going to bring me to school after the doctor and I will see you at recess".  Then she hugged and kissed her.  Before Gracie got out of the car, she had to go to the back and give Wesleigh a kiss goodbye.  I love watching the relationship between these two.  I can't imagine one being without the other!  God knew...I'm so thankful we listened!

So Far, So Good!

School has been going great for the two littles!  They seem to be enjoying their days and there have been no issues that I know of :)  They are so precious getting on the bus and think they're big stuff.  I'm not going to lie, being able to walk back inside and drink a cup of coffee, pick up the kitchen and get laundry caught up has been amazing!  It has done this mama good.

A few funnies from these first days:
* I have always told the girls "Mommy always comes back".  While we were waiting for the bus the first day, I heard my mom tell Wesleigh, "You will come back, just like Mommy always comes back".  So today as we're waiting for the bus Wesleigh tells me "Don't worry Mommy...I always come back".  So sweet!  She is always busy making sure everyone is ok and knows where to go and what to do.

* Gracie has slept during nap all 3 days.  My guess is, she will sleep every single day!

*Wesleigh slept today and I'm shocked!  I never thought she would, but she has been exhausted when she gets home so I'm glad.

*They've been going to be at 8:00 because they're so tired.

*We're still working on the lunch thing.  Gracie does good and eats most of her lunch (soup, of course!).  Wesleigh, however, has yet to eat her sandwich.  I'm going to try mac n cheese tomorrow to see if that works better.  They are both starving when they get home.

* They are having trouble getting into "sister mode" when they get home.  It takes them a while to start playing with each other.  They finally do get in the groove and enjoy each other.

* All Wesleigh wants to do when she gets home is "snuggle" with me.  I am happy to oblige :)

* One of my friends who teaches 5th grade saw Wesleigh in the hall and went "pssst" to her twice.  As she told me the story, her hands were on her hips and she said "Her is going to get me in twouble!".  SO funny!  As expected, Wesleigh is all about doing exactly what she's supposed to.  Gracie hasn't told me any specific stories yet.... not sure if that's good or bad :)  lol...

I haven't blogged it, but my boys have actually started school too!  lol... This is their second full week.  I took pics, but never posted them.  Now that I have more time to myself, I'm hoping to get a handle on the blogging!

School Is In!!

I'm not going to lie...I am happy!  I know some moms boo hoo when their babies leave the nest for kindergarten, and I must admit, there is a part of me that feels very guilty for not sharing the same feelings.  I just don't.  As much as I love having littles, I am happy that they are growing up.  I am happy to have just a little bit of time to catch up on some things around the house that have been on hold...forever!!  Of course, it doesn't hurt that the girls were just as excited as I was :)

They definitely make these uniforms look a little cuter :)  Wesleigh was completely in charge this morning.  She spent the morning re-assuring Gracie that she would be in the room next door and that they were going to have a great day.  The school has a sports theme this year, so everything has a ball on it.  Last night, Wesleigh said "Kindergarten is going to be boring...just baseballs and footballs and basketballs!".  I told her that those were just the decorations, that she was going to learn to read and write more words and do math.  She lit up and said "Why didn't anyone tell me?!?!"  SO cute!!

Gracie really did not need the extra re-assuring from Wesleigh...although she always feels more comfortable when she's around.  It will be interesting to see how she does in a different class from Wesleigh.  She depends on Wesleigh alot.  It's one of the reasons I decided to split them up.  I think they're both going to grow so much this year!

They never even looked back until the bus driver told them to wave goodbye :)

They'll be home in about 15 minutes.  I can't wait to hear all their stories about their day!!
