What Are You Reading?

I never used to be much of a reader, but lately, I have really been enjoying it. I just finished a book that I LOVED! Have you heard about it?

There seems to be alot of controversy surrounding this book. It is a very faith-based novel, and I guess that makes alot of people uncomfortable. In fact, I almost didn't post about it because you never know, but I thought it was the best book I've ever read and I wanted you to know about it. There were a couple of tear-jerker parts (more like sobbing), but mainly, you leave the book knowing how much God loves you and wanting a closer relationship with Him.

So, what are you reading? Any good books to share?

I read it and loved it. I wont give the story away in fact I tell people not to read the back before reading it..Just read it an make sure you read the info.

I talked to a pastor this weekend and we both agreed, this is not the Bible but it did give me a different look on things and for that I am grateful. I will read it again!

Jennifer,

I am with Amy, it is FICTION, that is an important perspective to keep!! I LOVED it and am going to read it AGAIN!! It really opened my eyes in some areas and William Young is just a good author!!

I, too, was hesitant to post about it, even though I really wanted to!

I need to get it! I just started The year of Magical thinking. It is sad so far but it has great reviews.

Hmmm....I've never heard about it before, but now I'm intrigued!

My daughter who is 20 has read "Safely Home" and "the Heavenly Man" this summer. They are both about Christians in China. One is fiction and one is not. I have them on my nightstand to start, but I keep falling asleep instead of picking them up. But she highly recommends them both.

Yes, I definately recommend "The Shack"! There is controversy around it. My good friend couldn't get past chapter 4. I cried and cried. And also got a new appreciation for God's love for me. It comes across as a true story, but it is fiction.

I've ready "Safely Home" too and would hightly recommend it. Haven't read the other one about China but I'll have to check it out.

I read this book, LOVED IT, and made my hubby read it.

I am presently reading The Girls. It is about a set of cranial conjoined twins. It is very good, but I am unsure if it is fictional, or based on a true story.

I am also reading Playing for Pizza. OK, but not pulling all my attention to it at this time.

I have also been reading Jane Eyre for over a year now and I am only 1/2 way through.

My 12 year old daughter read it and loved it and so I thought I would give it a go. It is well written and the subject matter is unique but it isn't the best book I have ever read. Wasn't a "couldn't put it down book for me".

I am addicted to reading. I have just read A Seperate Peace (modern classic). Very good, but hard for me to get into the first time I tried to read it. Glad I did!

The First Empress of China (An Chee Min) Very good, historical fiction. Loved this one.

The Thirteenth Tale (gothic mystery). Excellent book, in my opinion.

Thanks for the recommendation!
